I miss the old days.
Remember back in 2006, where we could fill around 6 cities?
I want to return to those fun-filled days, but I’m guessing no one has found a cheaper host than GoDaddy, which is very unfortunate. I can get friends involved in the game, but I’m still trying to work out how to start a LAN game, because I do not have the knowledge of- Ah screw it, I’m just derpy when trying to start a LAN game. Unless it’s really simple and right their in front of me.
Anyway, hopefully one day Battlecity will return to it’s 2006 status, where we could fill a good amount of cities. We just need players dedicated to the game. But newer generation games draw our attention away, which is very upsetting. I myself have been drawn away from Battlecity a few times by newer generation games or consoles. But I still find Battlecity just as, if not more entertaining than a console, or a more modern game. Not to say that Battlecity isn’t modern, it just hasn’t got that look, that smooth, detailed look.
But then maybe we could have that look. We just need a digital artist. Someone capable of making the games skin look a lot nicer than it currently is. It’d still have that wasteland touch to it. We just need to find the right and willing person. I myself am up for the challenge, but’d take a good long time before I finished. We’re looking at a few months.
We also new coders. I’ve got little coding skills, and I’m sure Deceth hasn’t got the time to code 24/7, nor does Rushing. So we need someone just as willing and as dedicated as the digital artist to aid in the coding.
And last but not least, throw in some donations, hell, even start hosting for Battlecity. Invite your friends, spread battlecity through steam, facebook, twitter, myspace and so on. It’ll help us get started again.

Oh cruel mistress, why do you forsake us!
September 10, 2011 at 6:15 am #2063faixParticipantWeebo, my crab friend, maybe you can help me!?
I’ve got several friends into battlecity by showing them some old footage I’ve recorded as moderator and player (1v1’s, events, etc) and they want to try it out. I’m going to invite them over as soon as I work out how to host a LAN game. Perhaps you know how? I’m thinking Hamachi, but I’m not 100% sure.
September 12, 2011 at 12:27 pm #2064WeeboParticipantFirst, does everyone have their own computer or laptop to connect to the LAN? All you really need is to connect everyone on the same router, then you’ll all be part of the same local area network.
Second, someone needs to run the Battle City Server on one of the computers.
Third (the tricky part right now), is you need to edit the Battle City Client (Source Code) using Visual Studio. You need to find the IP address and change it to the IP address of the machine running the server. Then you will need to give this new client to everyone who wants to play!
September 12, 2011 at 1:26 pm #2065faixParticipantDoesn’t sound to difficult, thankye’ Weebo!
September 13, 2011 at 7:55 am #2066faixParticipantHmm, I seem to be unable to get a Visual Studio that can open the Battlecity Client Source Code.
September 13, 2011 at 7:56 am #2067faixParticipantI seem to be unable to open the Battlecity Client Source Code with the Visual Studio I just downloaded, can I please have a link to the Visual Studio you last had, Weebo?
September 13, 2011 at 12:41 pm #2068WeeboParticipantHere is the link to Visual C++ 2010 Express.
Be sure to use the latest version of the source code. You can find the link to GitHub on the downloads page.
September 14, 2011 at 12:52 pm #2070faixParticipantI couldn’t thankyou enough, Weebo. I’ll go find you some human limbs and rebuild you, how’s that sound?
September 14, 2011 at 8:54 pm #2072WeeboParticipantI gladly accept your appendages.
September 15, 2011 at 6:20 am #2073faixParticipantWell unfortunately, on my way home, birds began to attack me and dogs began to chase me. I was forced to leave the severed limbs behind.
Fear not, I will find some more.September 15, 2011 at 10:08 pm #2074WeeboParticipantoh no, not angry birds!
September 16, 2011 at 3:27 am #2075faixParticipantIndeed, but I have successfully taken limbs fitting for a crab body since I find one of your a-sexual children floating on the beach, dead, with limbs on it for some reason.
Now to send them to Deceth’s place and hope he doesn’t burn them before you get to them.
November 28, 2011 at 2:12 pm #2090DecethKeymasterThanks for the tasty snack.
November 29, 2011 at 7:47 am #2094faixParticipantOh well, it was worth a shot.
