Hey guys.
I’m on, all the time. I check every hour to see if the server is up and if it’s up I’m on.
I just pwnd @deceth so now its only fair if I orb you all!
I do have one question for @graves, where is the server hosted? I get ridiculously high pings and it’s slightly harder to play. (Talking 800-1100). That’s what its been for the last 10 minutes. But I just noticed it dropped to a low 600. I live in Australia, so I understand there will be some ping issues, but I’d never imagined it’d be this high.
Anyway, I’m looking to orb some more!

Oh and uh, if you get on in the next few hours and I’m sitting on the server, but not doing anything – I’ve probably fell asleep on my desk. I’ll try to keep awake, it shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Looking for to more orbing goodness. Also, just to update the skin to the more modern Battlecity I’m probably going to move the cloak and flares skin ontop of the original walkie-talkie and lazer skins just so it prevents confusion. I know it’ll be client side but I’ll just release the image file without any problems. 🙂

Photoshop decided to crash as I was saving the new file. Nothing irritates me more than putting a good amount of effort into a project (Even as small as this one, and as easy) and then have it crash. I was trying to put a similar effect over the two icons so it’d be somewhat similar to the current items with their snowy effect.

Assuming most of you will hopefully fix your client soon enough, I know that they are a select few of us that can currently play the game. Deceth recently linked quite possibly a fix for the Windows XP users (@ArcValor, @LMGx50) which will hopefully resolve their issue and they’ll be in the battlefield not long from now!
I’ve been really eager to get back into Battlecity. I’m not going to lie, right now my city has been standing for 41 hours with 4 orbs at a bounty of 70 points. I’ve had a few matches with OldSchool. At first, he was a bit rusty but I must say he’s picked up the game really fast and he’s back into it. My last battle with him was much, much harder.
With my attentions focused on Battlecity due to my holidays, I’m on almost all the time. I’ve got a Moderator account which I would love to use to setup events. Which brings me to my next proposal – A games night / morning / afternoon.
It’s been talked about before not only here but on other forums during other years. I did briefly setup an events day in 2010 which didn’t turn out well because I struggled to wake up on a sunday morning at 6 AM during school terms. I can see this working, and we don’t even have to do events. It could be an all-out war against each other, it could be anything. Myself, @deceth, @graves, @arcvalor, @lmgx50, @riseagainst, @insaneinmybrain, @cseow, @rushing, @nightwish, @lakmobes, @incyte, @antster297, @hotdiggydoggy, @platypus, @flash and more could just all get on one night and have a tank-load of fun.
Oh yeah, I was reading the announcements from about 2005/2006 and well before Deceth overthrew Weebo, Weebo talked about how BattleCity gained a huge amount of players through http://www.free-games.com.au. You could vote for Battlecity here http://www.free-games.com.au/Detailed/1423.html. I don’t know what voting could achieve right now – I’ve got no idea where Battlecity sits on that table, but I’m sure if a large number of us started voting, we might attract some new members.
Someone has to explain to me what format I have to use to hyperlink things through text, [bold]text[/bold] etc. I think I use to know…
If you guys want to drive newbies to the game, the best way to do it is get links to battlecity.org on as many game directories/forums/blogs as possible. Usually that’s a simple process of creating an account on the site and submitting the information.
Right now, Battle City is on zero game directories. It’s basically impossible to find unless you are looking for it. Meaning, old players can stumble onto the site, but we’re not going to grow the community with fresh newbies to orb.
Why zero? Because the website address is now battlecity.org. No links point to this destination. There are links pointing to looble.com (which no longer exists) and battlecity.net (which doesn’t connect with the current project), but none to the current site.
So please, feel free to try and change this. Submit Battle City all over the place. Just get the link right and some people will end up here eventually 😉
Yes but if the game doesnt work then how are people going to play?!?…thus said I like these ideas and I will do this…but i want to be on BC when newbies join because I like teaching them. I can still remmebr when rise against first joined im sure thier were other “i tried to help” but its all about being nice to players and kinda of like actually caring and respecting people…We dont want people like Joemoney, Chris, CMB. Zhamtrim, Method, and Ghengis were awesome players also. But i personally DO NOT WANT elite CLANS that just sit and dominate the game for days on end and are duke in 3 weeks. We have to do this right guys. Im not trying to diss on u guys we had fun times. But that didnt work for new players last time. First the community needs to be USER Friendly and i think is what matters most. Thanks for listening.
I dont know if this matters but I have sent an e-mail to remote at remote@codemallet.com im hoping for a response….personally i think he gave up on the BC community because of the community. People like Orber(major) just taking and talking shit all day…this is not needed. and look i dont like pointing fingures i probobly F’d up to. So im sorry if any offense was taken..this is juat how i feel. Thanks again and yeah happy orbing! 🙂
-YOUr friend LMGI think the best way for a newbie to learn after they’ve learnt the basics is to join a city that’s occupied by someone with experience. I’d be more than happy to take in a newbie, I should be able to deal with them and hopefully they’ll pick a few things up as I attack and defend against another city.
Like you said, I don’t think it would be fair to have a newbie just be ultimately dominated by players who don’t care if they’re newbie. We’d have to give them some time to learn before we could go all out, thus why I think it would be best for a newbie to join someone else and learn from experience.
What does everyone think of a games night?
I think its great but i cannot run the damn game. Its really annoying because i would be all over it and exspressing my ideas/advice. Since im just sitting around. It would be kinda fun to…I would love to just log on…i cant even think about a game night because i cant log on all i can discuss is about the moving forward of the whole IDEA/DREAM….back on looble.com…Battlecity’s reincarnation was just a dream……
ANyway I have made contact with Remote and Ive discussed my ideas with him.
Hes just wondering how this would all happen…..Have you tried Deceth’s potential fix for Windows XP users?
Read his post. I’m not entirely sure if Graves is supposed to download the update from supportxp or if the XP users are. I would download it anyway, and hope that @Deceth (who should now) respond and correct me.
Hopefully Graves can get a Windows XP compatibility client going soon rather than having new players and old players going through all of this trouble.

sure it wont work thoWhen you download it, do you know what it installs and where? I’d imagine it installs different .dll files which you’d have to copy them into your battlecity directory.
Still can’t say for sure, you’ll have to get confirmation from Deceth.
Ive been playing this and following since 2005 06 whatever the games always worked i think its something to do with the programing because ive tried all those d/l’ds and everything. BC has always worked untill now.
Yeah, I know. I first joined this game in 2006, and I’ve been on and off all through to 2012. All clients I was able to run with no issues until this one.
I had to install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012.
Again, I really hope this is resolved soon and I hope you can be patient enough for the client to be fixed.
Hopefully, Graves will be able to fix it with Deceth’s fix.
Well with that said I have made contact with Remote and i have made contact with aaerox from Infantry…..hes on the BC site now and looking at the code. I am hoping my ideas are going to be talked about
