Hello! I’ve tried the suggestions previously posted – install Visual C++ 2012 x86, put the folder on the desktop, etc, and I still cannot get BC to work :(. Any more suggestions? Any questions I can answer that might help?

You’re running Windows XP?
You’re running 32bit?
You’ve placed the downloaded .dll files into your BattleCity directory?
Maybe I can add you on skype and guide you through it, and / or do it through teamviewer.

Check
And Check…
I’ve copied all files that start with MSVC… from the system32 folder into the root of my BattleCity folder. I’ve also restarted after installing the VC++ Redist. Still getting the same error, much to my chagrin :,(((
December 17, 2012 at 7:29 am #2159faixParticipantYou only need the following files in your Battlecity directory.
MSVCP71.dll
MSVCP110.dll
MSVCR71.dll
MSVCR110.dllNote the P at the end of the first two. Make sure you have them.
December 17, 2012 at 7:29 am #2160faixParticipantAlso, make sure you run* BattleCity.exe
bc.exe is a debug thing that I have no idea what it does.
December 17, 2012 at 11:18 am #2161faixParticipantAlright I’ve done a bit of research.
There’s a possibility that the .exe is trying to run the files from the wrong directory. You may need to make sure you’re BattleCity.exe. I’m not entirely sure you can change this directly.
You may want to look a bit into the following links for solutions.

I don’t know if this will be much of help since it’s in the reserve, but I’ll throw it in for you.

@Graves is probably the most help you could have right now. He knows a lot more than I do.
December 17, 2012 at 8:45 pm #2164LMGx50ParticipantWell i downloaded that win32 fix app and im running it now i hope this helps
December 18, 2012 at 1:10 am #2165faixParticipantHopefully. I’m not even sure what that is, or what it does, but hopefully it works.
December 18, 2012 at 2:12 pm #2166DecethKeymasterThanks everyone for your help Googling and thanks @faix for taking the time to help folks get these issues sorted out.
This particular bug will affect users on Windows XP. [If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 and have received an error message, get the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 from the downloads page]
For this bug,
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vcblog/archive/2012/06/15/10320645.aspx”>this article from Microsoft explains the issue we are having. As per this article from supportxp, an update is available that has the potential to fix the problem (assuming nothing else has gone haywire…)
Therefore, developers, if you’ve downloaded Visual Studio Express 2012 for Desktop, to maintain support for Windows XP you need to then scroll down to the “Additional Software” section and download Visual Studio 2012 Update 1.
The other option is to download an use Visual Studio Express 2010 which is still available and which hopefully won’t break the game for those on Windows 7….
