Double Elimination Dueling Tournament

A double elimination dueling tournament was held on Sunday, December 11th at 10:00pm EST. Sign-ups started at 9:00, and by start time we had 16 participants signed up. The competitors were:

With four normal sized dueling arenas to speed things along, the winners bracket went smoothly. Everyone showed up for their matches and, after some skilled dueling, ScubaSteve defeated ReDxKiNgZ for the round one title.

Because the tournament was double elimination, you could lose one match and still make it to the final. Some players didn’t understand this and left, so several of the losers bracket matches were decided by default. The losers bracket final pitted ReDxKiNgZ against Orber(Major). ReDxKiNgZ got a well deserved win, advancing him to the final to face ScubaSteve yet again.

A special dueling arena was set up for the final match. It featured a number of walls as obstacles, plus a turret surrounded by walls that the players had the option to unleash. ReDxKiNgZ and ScubaSteve each got a bazooka, a med kit, a lazer (only lazers were allowed for the other matches) and squared off at opposite sides of the arena. When Eventsparrow signaled the beginning of the match, ScubaSteve shot two of the walls blocking the turret fire. Once the walls were gone, the turret killed ScubaSteve very quickly (without ReDxKiNgZ ever shooting him), making ReDxKiNgZ the winner and the champion of the Double Elimination Tournament.

Giant Maze Used for Giant Duel

Last night I built a big giant maze with walls over in St. Johns. The first one to the CC won 250 pts! Congrats Flash!

Once the CC was found, we decided to use the maze to have a giant duel inside of it. It was really fun! It was decided that the last man standing would win 250pts.

For the first duel, chaos952, Chris and Kris were the last 3! Kris went down first and then chaos952 managed to defeat Chris to hold on for the win!

On the second try, SuRgE, stacker and lejeune were the last 3 standing. After lejeune died SuRgE was able to knock out stacker for the win!

Before the third duel, hundreds of walls which had been destroyed in the previous two battles had to be replaced. There were over 10 players running around and shooting at each other during each battle

Finally, for round 3, Deceth, chaos952 and Nightwish were the final 3 standing. After killing chaos952, Deceth was then able to take care of Nightwish and finish victorious!

The First Gauntlet

The first ever Battle City Gauntlet event took place last night and it was very fun! I logged on around 9pm EST and finished it right on time for 10pm! 😉

I’d like to thank the entire Battle City community for making this event a pleasure to host. There were over 30 players online, yet the Gauntlet was not damaged, sabotaged or attacked all night! In fact, with the exception of ReBeL, nobody tried causing any mischief! Thanks!

The Gauntlet was definitely not easy. Only those with the best tank driving skills were able to reach the end. There were no winners until around 11:30 when Chris finally made it to the end! Chris actually had died on the last turret about 30 minutes earlier, but this time made no mistake!

By the end of the night, CMB, TylerDurden, Knights, mrmcnutz, Iggy and BoC all made it to the end of the Gauntlet! Congrats! There were many spectators gathered at the finish line cheering those who survived that far!

All the winners received 1000pts, though some decided to sponsor a newbie or to share with someone who helped them.

Also, Yoyo won 2pts for jumping over the walls right in front of the finish line!

On another note, my account earned 920 points, which means the Gauntlet claimed 460 lives in a single night. With 7 winners, that means 1.5% of the attempts made at reaching the end of the Gauntlet were successful. Definitely a challenging Gauntlet.

Catch 1000 points!!!

At 10pm EST, a player named “1000pts” entered the battlefield! The first person to catch him in a DFG or kill him in the chase would WIN 1000pts!!!!

The event was very fun, especially for me driving around that tank that was being chased by over 20 people. I actually had 3 DFG’s and 4 medpacks so that kept me going a little longer. A few players who were right behind me got stuck in the DFG’s I dropped and I could hear them cursing as the rest of the group then passed them and continued after me!

The event was so fun, we decided to have a second round!

Congrats to the following people who caught “1000pts” and in so doing each won 1000 points!
