Congratulations to FRYGUY!  Who has won the CDC for Nunivak!  He received quite a handful of votes to pull himself very far ahead of other participants of Nunivak.  Please see below to see criticism's for each of your designs and how to improve on your city building skills.

Surge's thoughts on your designs:

Design #1
I really like most of the entrances on this city because they are unique and probably work well.  On the other hand, the one entrance on the east side is not so good.  Say goodbye to your zooks a lot, and possibly the sleepers.  Once those go, your CC is VERY open with no more turret backup around it.  I like the rest of the layout but I just think that your south side needs to be worked on more

Design #2
This design definitely does not fit into the "tightly-packed" category.  There is a lot of extra space in the city.  Extra space in your city means more room for enemies to move around INSIDE and shoot turrets with ease.  Try to focus 1/3 of your turrrets on the outside and 2/3 of the remaining turrets on the inside.  Any attacker can bomb all of your outside buildings with ease, so that needs to be changed.  

Design #3
Overall a very solid design with good examples of turret angles, factory placement, and good use of terrain at Nunivak.  Every entrance seems well protected and the city does a good job of giving commandos a lot of space to manuever around in.  The only thing I would change is make some sort of quicker exit out to the south-east entrance.  I think you may have some problems in that area.   

Design #4
The biggest problem I see with this city are the placement of your two turret factories, right next to each other and very open to suicide bombing.  Another problem is that the lasers and zooks are right next to each other.  How are your commandos going to defend when someone blows these factories?  The city is also easily orbable from the north-west (all it takes it two turrets) so you might want to work on that entrance.   

Design #5
This city is easiest to orb at the west end of the city.  Even though you have 3 turrets guarding the CC, that is not enough if 2 players attack there.  There is one major problem with this city…way to many turrets on the inside leaving your commandoes dead from friendly fire.  Not only would that happen but it looks quite hard to manuever through.  Try to get better factory placement and better turret angles that hurt the enemy but not your own!

Submission #1

This design does a decent job of keeping the cc as the centerpoint. There is adequate coverage on all four sides. However, the entrances are fairly weak, both to the northeast and southwest. Both can be easily entered and their guarding turrets are vulnerable. This is unfortunate because once either is stormed, the city will be orbed in fairly short order. Honestly, I'm pretty sure the better orbers in the game could orb this place by killing the two turrets (northeast) and dropping a single bomb on the bomb factory spawn point. This will blow the guarding green, plasmas, and walls. If this doesn't suit their fancy, southwest is just as enticing. The guarding sleepers inside are easy to shoot and once the sleep factory falls, the plasmas and walls are easy to take out. Overall, I think this is an average build.

Submission #2

South has major problems. A skilled bomber could run in the southern entrance, shoot zero turrets, and hide in the safe space between the plasmas, lasers, and sleeps. Safe spaces are bad in general, but safe spaces between three facts (two of which are very valuable) is unacceptable. If the attacker has a dfg or two, it would be impossible to sneak past his safe space and shoot the bombs, which once blown would leave the city crippled.

North is difficult to defend, but I appreciate the lack of critical factories three layers deep. Therefore, I don't consider this a major weakness. West has a good entrance, but I imagine most attackers would bomb the mine res before making their approach toward the cc.

The house to the far northeast is not accomplishing much and I suggest you move it somewhere more important.

Overall, I think this is a mediocre build.

A solid design. The entrances are excellent and have good turret defense. The weakest are probably either southwest or northeast, but I'm not sure I'd do too much to change them. Its more
of a relative thing. Factory placement is also solid and defenders will love the free space to roam. The factories are all relatively easy to defend and the zooks are right next to the spawn
point. If I could make a suggestion it would be to put your repair and meds on opposite sides of the city. Perhaps switch your meds with your orb factory.

By the way, I'm not clear on what the mine res is doing over there. It's not guarding anything or blocking any turret angles, so I think there might be better uses for it.

Overall, an excellent job.

Multiple problems with this design I think. For instance:

You should not double your houses on the east. It is very inviting for bombers in an already attractive location.

You are basically forfeiting your mines and walls. Walls are not so much of a big deal I suppose given their location relative to the cc, but mines are not something you should so readily sacrifice. Not to mention the fact that you make it nearly impossible for your defenders to grab them because they are so far away from the rest of the action.

If I was attacking this design, I would start northeast; finish off the lone sleeper guarding the mines/walls; drop bombs on the factories; dfg the access from the south, and then work on tunneling down to the greens. Alternatively, I'd just tunnel in from the south, shooting the sleepers by the cc while bombing my way in.

In other news, I think several of your other entrances and factory positions are decent and I can tell you have the basics down.

Overall, an average design.

Some of the elements of this city are pretty solid. Others seem at first blush to be strong, but are actually not so great. Examples:

The plasma guarding the eastern entrance is not difficult to shoot. Once the green east of it falls, I think your central factory block is in trouble. There are no other turrets able to protect that area and an attacker can camp on a stack of bombs.

Secondly, this city's northern side will give the mayor an absolute fit. That house "guarding" access far to the northeast will be a major pain because to rebuild it you have to drive way up there away from the rest of your city. The rocks below it force defenders to drive all the way up and around to stop tunneling attackers. I would suggest altering your northern wall (green res, plasma res, center house) so that it terminates one square to the west of the rocks, then move your sleep res up one and change out the neighboring eastern house. complicated adjustment, yes, but it will allow people to drive under the rocks instead of around them. Trust me, your defenders will thank you for it.

The other entrances are quite good actually and I otherwise like what you've done with the terrain.

Overall, a slightly above average design that could be significantly improved with some minor adjustments.
