Fall 2006

Season in Review

The third BCL season has come and gone with HDO winning the championship for a third consecutive time! Although some teams took HDO to overtime, not a single one was able to defeat them once this season. Although there was a lack of competition for the championship, a nice rivalry brewed between SnG and JB, when SnG knocked JB down to third place near the end of the season!

Black Omen had trouble similar to that experienced by SnG their first season, failing to show a full lineup on several occassions. Despite that, the clan gave many new faces the opportunity to experience the BCL, and when GoW dropped from the league,  they even got a playoff spot!

Although competition this season was not as intense as last season, overall everything ran smoothly! Much thanks to all those who helped and volunteered to ref! Without you guys the season would not have been possible. Thanks to those who participated as players as well!

The only problem this season was teams often playing short-handed. Next season will be run by Zhantrim and I wouldn't be surprised to see the total teams drop from 5 to 4. Less teams with bigger lineups is likely what we'll see as well as more competition 🙂

WHAT A HOOT OF A GAME! BO showed their top line for the first time this season, and what better time to do so than the playoffs!

BO and HDO both got off to quick starts, with HDO striking first. Solid 4 man D held the attacks off, and gave Rise Against time to finish building. Eventually, Knights snuck off to attack, and before long, the battle went from solely at BO's base, to a back and forth match, with some close calls on each side.

Warlord gave HDO their first scare of the season, when on one solid attack he died shooting walls! On a few other occasions he continued to pester HDO and cause damage, with Knights also doing his share.

Despite the valiant effort and praise BO has received for making this series way more entertaining than was expected, HDO was still in control of the match for the most part thanks to some solid veteran performances.

Zhantrim was solid as mayor all game. Method was great- knowing when to sit back and defend – when to attack – and how to give IGGY more room and time with the orb. -IGGY- had a slow start, but by the end was blowing up buildings even with 3 defenders on him. Mak and Batcho were both solid 4th's, doing their part on D or offence at the right times. HDO looked solid and comfortable, never flinching an eye, never looking anxious or nervous, even come OT.

Great game, can't wait for game 2, hope its as good as game 1! Bring that same line BO!

BO Loses Two Straight to HDO, HDO Moves On To Finals!

The game began at 3:02pm with BO choosing Harbin and HDO choosing Armidale.

BO's team consisted of Lightning, Hardcore, and Nems, with Darkn3ss mayoring. HDO showed a strong lineup of Anox, Batcho, and Iggy, with Merloch mayoring.

BO started out a little bit slow building, and HDO built up very fast, getting to 21 buildings in under 3 minutes. They began their attack shortly after, and were sending 3, and sometimes all 4 to attack at once.

Darkn3ss kept up with rebuilding well, and a strong defense from BO held up for 8 minutes, but the relentless attack from HDO managed to slowly chip away at the defenses and Iggy got the orb.

The MVP for BO was Darkn3ss, and the MVP for HDO was Batcho.

This was an exciting one. JB built from Hanoi and SnG built from Bishkek. When regulation started, both teams were sending 2 attackers and keeping 2 defenders until about halfway through regulation. Then JB starts to send 3 attackers forcing SnG to keep 3 defenders with wdouglas attacking solo until the end of regulation. With about 2 minutes left in regulation, JB takes out several crucial factories. End of regulation saves SnG and both cities are given a chance to rebuild!

Once overtime started, both teams sent 2 attackers. JB took out some turret researches right off the bat. SnG’s base just couldn’t take anymore bombing and no rebuilding being allowed. Finn opened the CC and Nightwish ran in for the orb 4:40 into overtime! Good game goes out to both teams! Only if SnG showed up to play in game 1 this could have been an exciting series instead of an exciting game! JB advances to face the mighty HDO in the finals. Can JB overthrow the almighty HDO dynasty??? BCL Finals coming soon!

This was probably the least thrilling match of the season. JB decided that they peaked in the semis and didn't bother to show up. Deceth was the only regular. Stig was their draft pick. Op and Costas were free agents.

The game got underway soon after 4 pm and JB quickly assembled the infrastructure of a base. At minute 1, they were then orbed by some n00b sergeant from hbo. LMAO.

Everyone re-gathered in the meeting room and then was sent back out to the battlefield. The game began anew.

JB was the first to 21 as Anox stumbled through his old Harbin design. Stig and Op pressed the early attack, keeping HDO on their heels. This quickly ended as HDO returned the favor. Before long, factories were falling like crazy and JB was dropping rebuilt turrets as fast as they could.

It was not enough.

The bombs kept falling and JB succumbed for the second time at 21 minutes.

This was a great game. Hopefully others who witnessed or took part will describe more of what they saw, as I was stuck up in my base most of the game.

The game started, with zhantrim, jml22, corey and Merloch for HDO, against the bunny line above which did not change all game.

Thats right, HDO brought out JML22! At first he was rusty and died undefended trying to shoot turrets, but by the end of the match, he started to get back in the grove and was becoming more and more of a hassle to handle!

Initially we had no ref to start the match, so rise against who was the only spectator was asked to help out, and I think we all owe him a big thank-you for stepping up to the task with no training at all! Half-way through the game, Friguy showed up to give him a hand

The game started with JB attacking first in under 2 minutes into the game. I'm not sure what happened during these attacks, but by the 10 minute mark, HDO started sending c0rey and jml22, and eventually Merloch would come sneak some peeks too From the 10 minute to 30 minute mark, it was mostly back and forth, with a few close calls for both teams.

With about 5 minutes left in the game, Anox who came in when Merloch left, managed to take out the JB turret factory! This resulted in a crazy HDO rush of 3 attackers which was looking dangerous, until down at Kuala either Flash or Ballsout took out HDO's bomb factory to save JB! JB then went on a 3-man attack until the end of regulation.

In OT, both teams were playing cautious, not wanting to loose any important building early on. Again, not sure what happened down at Kuala, but JB lost wall factory, mine research, DFG research-factory and many houses by the end of OT.

In the second OT, HDO came with 3 attackers right at the start and did some good damage. I think it was on his second attack, that -IGGY- rushed in the southern entrance, and ran right to CC with bombs all over wall factory. He was hidden from turret first behind a factory, and as soon as the wall factory blew, he had an open path to CC which he took, successfully owning me as I tried desperately to defend =p Our turrets in that area had not been replaced after the first OT, and IGGY saw the weakness and capitalized big-time for HDO!

Good game! Congratz on the championship. The third straight one! This team will go down in BC history as a dynasty, and I propose they be re-named from HDO to HDC.

Short match with HDO completely crushing GoW in less than 5 minutes. Merloch and IGGY combined for their usual explosive offence which has earned them the reputation of the games top attacking duo.

This match, featuring last season's finalists did not turn out as exciting as expected. GoW was un-prepared and missing players. Despite the fact that several free agents were in-game and more were available online, GoW still managed to play short-handed. They almost played 2 players short, but Clientel was very persistent in reminding them that he would play.

GoW has all the skill needed to compete on the same level as HDO. They are the team that gave HDO it's only loss. If someone on the team steps up and takes the reigns for the season, they can still be a serious threat. They won't win the BCL though until they start showing up to games prepared, with designs and players ready. Last season Jizohn and Tony9 did a great job at leading the team to the finals, backed up by some very talented players like Chris, CMB and BoC. This season, both those players are more inactive, so someone will need to fill their shoes.

Rise representing BO, despite his mother's request he wear deoderant, and Cor3y, the guy who just wants to play.

On the other side were a bunch of carrot-sucking rats. I forget most of their names.

At the starting gun, people built cities. Rise n00bed it up by leaving his turrets on the factories. Stig attacked, capitalizing on the n00bdom. There was orbage.

And then they lived happily ever after.

SNG's league experience showed through, as they finished their city quickly and went on the offensive. They may have spent more time attacking in this game than in the entire last BCL season, and the match only lasted 12 minutes.

Scile orbed Free Agents of War at some point. No MVPs were chosen since no official match occured.

GoW orbed BO with 6 minutes left in overtime. BO attacked first and kept the pressure on GoW for the first half of regulation. The action shifted to BO's based as Flash snuck away and took out half of BO's defenses.

BO did steady damage in OT, but took out mostly Offensive researches (which can be rebuilt under the new OT rules). Flash steadily picked off BO's researches with heavy DFG spamming, then slipped in for the orb.

NOTE: GoW kicked from the league after this match, after failing to show a full lineup for over 51% of their games as per league rules. BO could suffer the same fate if they play short-handed next game.

BoC suspended for remainder of season for attempting to play for GoW on a smurf name after numerous warnings by the refs. Not permanently banned from BCL as he was smurfing in his own clan.

The longest game of the season.w00t!JB started the attack with surge ender and muffinman all going leaving Deceth all alone .JB did some major damage on hdo's base, but after all the jb invaders were dead they rebuild right back up.At full size, Cable and Merloch started attacking the bunnies with ender on D.They didnt do much damage on their first run but after a bit cable got jb's zooks and bombs..forcing jb to 4d.Anox,Cable,And Merloch all attacked and did a bit of damage…but jb's 4d was pretty tight.The bunnies sent out surge and muffinman but even both of them couldn't take down much of hdo's base. back at the bunnies base, Cable got the plasmas and some other stuff ( i was out shooting Rise Against for coming too close to the match )Jb was back on 4d when Merloch took out jb's greens.Cable swooped in and took out jb's walls plasmas and other goodies.Merloch tryed to go for the orb because it looked open, but the bunnies had mines surrounding the cc and merloch died b4 he could hit "O".Finally after a while with the 4d 4 attack on jb, Cable and merloch took out a lot of jb's defence and the bunnies base was wide open!with all of hdo dead, jb had about a good 1 minute to rebuild.But HDO was too ruthless to let the bunnies rebuild much.Cable finished off the bunnies by getting the plasmas and greens, as Merloch rushed in for the orb. Merloch orbed the bunnies with about (im guessing here from what i heard from vind) ROUGHLY 7-6 minutes left in the game. Good job HDO!

SNG spent 6 minutes picking a city and 2 minutes orbing the carrot-sucking rats from JB.

The game began in impressive fashion, with Deceth setting the tone by picking his city in record time. Apparently he had an appointment with his OB/GYN that simply could not wait.

SNG tried their best to thwart his desires, floundering around and picking cities halfway across the map. Commons even tried to backdoor his way into Huambo.

At 4:06, the game got underway with a flurry of activity. In no time, both squads neared 21 buildings. Crotch-itch mounting, Deceth was the first to unleash the hounds.

JB's Mors got all the way to SNG's cc before relizing that you can't orb a city with a laser. OM then high-tailed it toward JB's base with orb and bombs in tow.

Thoughts of microscopic crabs blinding him, Deceth forgot to place his D. When OM streaked in for the orb, he had one foot out the door and one hand on the lotion. As the blue ball dropped, his keyboard hit the floor and out the door he ran.

JB had lost, but Deceth had made his appointment.

Batcho began building at a pace twice the speed of Rise against. Yet BO began to catch up as the announcments blaired in thier ears. They both reached 21 at very similar times, BO about 10 seconds after HDO, but HDO had already sent in thier artillery to begin taunting the BO squad with a barrage intricate offensive tacticts. Despite major setbacks such as merloch, anox, and zhantrim taking out BO's green factory several times. BO was perseverant with defensive tacticts untill, merloch was able to shoot BO's green and zook factories due to lack of housing and blow his way through the walls and into BO's cc for the orb!***
